Step-by-Step (ooh baby!)

por | | 0 comments

I try to avoid re-posting, but yesterday's guide from YumSugar is too helpful not to. Courtesy of their website, check out how to make these great do-it-yourself invitations with just some every day stationery supplies, and one or two tools available at places like my own personal Disney Land, The Paper Source.

Step-by-Step (ooh baby!)First of all, I have to point out, these invitations are for a couple, Elena and Sean, getting married in October 2009 (if you're currently engaged, don't freak out, it is more than early to be working on invitations, but way to be prepared) at Lake Tahoe. . .their colors are orange and fuchsia with wood and khaki accents. . .can you believe it? Sounds jarring, but you have to admit it's unique, and it's actually growing on me.

Step-by-Step (ooh baby!)First step. . .they composed their invitation text in a Microsoft Word document with the details of the wedding. They used Edwardian Script ITC in size 16 and printed out their invitation text on colored paper.
Step-by-Step (ooh baby!)Next, they removed the upper half of two envelopes to create a sleeve.

Step-by-Step (ooh baby!)A third envelope was sealed and covered with the decorative paper. They then lined the inside of the side panels with the decorative paper and set aside. To create a three-piece folding panel, they turned over the sealed and covered envelope and glued the top flaps of the two other envelopes to the back.

Next, they cut some cardstock down to 1/4 of an inch smaller than the folded-closed invite and created three pieces, one for the center and two for the sides.

Step-by-Step (ooh baby!)Now they're getting crafty! With the help of some scalloped scissors they cut the text pages out to be roughly 1/4 of an inch smaller than the colored-cardstock pieces . . .Step-by-Step (ooh baby!). . .mounted the text on to the colored cardstock with the glue . . .and set aside to dry.Step-by-Step (ooh baby!)They used a branch-shaped hole punch to punch out branches on the remaining colored cardstock.
Step-by-Step (ooh baby!)
Step-by-Step (ooh baby!). . .and glued to the edges of the text/cardstock. After that they glued the center text cardstock to the middle panel of the invite and folded to close and tied it with matching ribbon.

Step-by-Step (ooh baby!)They lined the inside of another envelope with decorative paper, slid in the folded invite and they were ready to send!

Step-by-Step (ooh baby!)Voila! The finished product!
Step-by-Step (ooh baby!)

"Gravity" Lyrics:
When I walk I touch the sky
I feel ten feet tall
And I know why

It's everywhere
It's in your eyes
The secret that we can defy

Gravity
Ooh, La dada dada da
Gravity
Ooh/ La dada dada da

You helped me grow
Now you gotta let me go
Cuz I have learned to fly on my own

And it's gonna be
Pulling on my heart and soul
But I can't go back now that I know

Gravity
Ooh, La dada dada da
Gravity
Ooh, La dada dada da

Falling upwards
Catch me if you can
One step forwards
Here we go again

Gravity
Ooh, La dada dada da
Can't bring me down

Gravity
Ooh, La dada dada da
Can't bring me down

Gravity
Ooh, La dada dada da
Can't bring me down

Gravity
Ooh, La dada dada da
Can't bring me down

When I walk I touch the sky

And now I know why they call them sparklers

por | | 0 comments

One of my best friends, Libby, got engaged recently and her ring is STUNNING.
And now I know why they call them sparklers
It shines so much it kind of makes me cross-eyed.
And now I know why they call them sparklers
Gorgeous.

Here's Libby and her fiance Allen at their engagement party. They'll be getting married in October at a resort on Lake Michigan. Libby's responsible for some of the most fun nights of my life, so it goes without saying that her wedding is going to be a blast. And since she also works as a professional event planner, I know that handling all the the crazy details of destination wedding will be a piece of cake.
And now I know why they call them sparklers

All the Summoners know where the real Champions come from.

An entry for the League of Legends contest "Songs of the Summoned"

Summoners: Escasvalius (NA); HangmansHands (NA); JackTheRed (NA); Orieon (NA)

Dadadada-dada-da-Demacia!
D-Town is where I be, yeah
Original Gank-sta, ODG, yeah
I'm all up in yo bushes, take a look and see.
Check with yo face, an now you're addin to my killing spree.
Don't matter if you bought 4 or 5 health potions.
I spin to win from the bush, causing a commotion.
You want the side lanes to push? What a foolish notion.
Justice and Judgement is rough, hope you bought Doran's Lotion.

Is that X2daZ? Oh my goodness gracious!
My talons are three and my charge is audacious.
Is that your build, n00b? Man, that ish is outrageous!
Push you back to your base, hope your D is tenacious.
Here's a tip, n00b, and a spear to go with it:
LTP, FFS before you Summoner's Rift it.
Are we all up in your bushes or straight MIA?
It's D-Town in the lane, n00b, just go AFK.

n00bs don't know they places
checkin with they faces
OMG we got another first blood!
You better put
You better put some wards up.
n00bs don't know they places
checkin with they faces
OMG we got another first blood!
You better put
You better put some wards up.

It's TripLL-L up in here, yeah I'm new to the scene
But I still run it from a range, straight makin' ya scream
DEMACIA!
Yeah, Tossin' my laser beam
I'll root you down with a friend and set you up for my team
All them boys try to chase me, stop 'em right in they tracks
Talkin' bout Sword of the Occult, they say it's got 20 stacks
PLEASE!
I know you talkin ish, you straight committin' perjury,
Keep starin, scrub, I'll get you laser surgery!

G-spoT runnin down the gust in the lane
and when my ultimate busts, you know I'm bringin the pain
I got flash ulti skills, and when that ish hits,
I get pentakills, you get penta rage-quits!
Stay the ROCK off my squishies, if you know what is best,
Bulwark don't give a ROCK about your ranged DPS.
I don't jungle for Baron, I get that buff for free;
If Baron wants to push a base he has to jungle for me, yeah.

n00bs don't know they places
checkin with they faces
OMG we got another first blood!
You better put
You better put some wards up.
n00bs don't know they places
checkin with they faces
OMG we got another first blood!
You better put
You better put some wards up.

I got my red an blue buff on, I'm lookin' so ill.
You hear the alarm? This ain't a sunfire drill!
Got your whole team swallowin they blue pills,
Youre gonna need the whole keyboard to hotkey my skills!
If there was a way you could win maybe I'd give you a clue,
The situation that you're in leaves you with nothing to do.
You're tryin to gank me alone oh so conspicuously,
When I take your whole team alone you're gonna QQ "OP"
The Journal of Justice tried to cover my last match,
Riot workin real hard to nerf me in the last patch,
Your ranked ELO's bout as good as it can be,
n00b GTFO, there's no way you can ban me!

Lovebites is an original micro-series that focuses on the romantic and domestic exploits of Katie and Max, a witty and spirited twentysomethings couple who are stuck between the carefree college mentality and the seriousness that comes with being an adult. Through lovebites we get a fresh, modern look at how a young couple goes from sharing the bill to sharing keys ... and how drama-filled new relationships can be. In this clip, Katie doesn't withstand her bridesmaid role when she forgets to get a present for the shower.

Bride$hare!

Bride$hare!

i am thrilled to introduce to you a wonderful concept created by the one and only, Dana of http://www.thebrokeassbride.com/, called Bride$hare. did you know the average cost of a wedding these days is $28,000?!! and so many times you see pictures of real weddings out there and you would love to have that exact decor at your wedding, but who can afford an extra $28,000 to throw at a wedding? here may be a quick solution to this dilemma:

Part social networking, part wedding planning site, Bride$hare™ helps brides be more budget and eco friendly as they get ready to head down the aisle. Bride$hare™ offers brides the opportunity to team up and share the daunting task, and costs, of wedding planning while creating less waste - addressing three top priorities of brides current economy. “While planning my own wedding on a shoestring, I was contacted by a fellow bride, and fan of my blog (www.thebrokeassbride.com) who was getting married two months after us," said Dana LaRue, founder of BrideShare.net. "She loved our design ideas so much that she offered to split the cost of and share most of the decor. Flattered, I saw it as a fortuitous money saving opportunity: Bride$hare™, the carpool of wedding planning! In total, we shared roughly $4,000 which translates to a savings of $2,000 each - a formidable amount for any budget."

i remember reading about this exchange of wedding goods on Dana's blog myself thinking, that this is genius! so any of you ladies out there want to share in this fabulous new way of saving money, go check Bride$hare out!

Long luscious locks

I'm digging this gal's full-bodied loose hair look- a nice change from the typical low-on-the-neck bun you see on most brides (myself included). And what better to go with layered locks then a frothy, layered Amsale gown that goes short and long?

good morning! this weekend we are having our second annual thanksgiving with some close friends of ours--we spend thanksgiving day with my in-laws, so it's fun to have a reason to entertain and cook up some good comfort food! i was totally inspired by the lovely metallic setting above--stunning!! since i can't really afford Michael C. Fina plates, i thought these Pottery Barn ideas would be a good starting point :) and when it comes to winter weddings i really like to incorporate the harvest and Christmas feel into the decor. not over done, but a little sparkle and rustic touches really bring together a magical flavor at a wedding. i love this season!

How to Save Money on Wedding Gifts

por | | 0 comments
When wedding season comes along, you might feel as though you are spending your entire paycheck on wedding gifts. After all, it adds up-engagement party gifts, bridal shower gifts, wedding gifts.

Shop using the manufacturer's website.  Skip the department store registry and head straight for the manufacturer's website. For example, the Mikasa Dinnerware Cameo Platinum 40 Piece Set is $640 at Macy's while at the Mikasa website it's only $199.99, a staggering difference of $440.  That's the bachelorette party & bridal shower you saved right there!

Use rebate programs like Ebates.  With cash back sites like Ebates or Upromise, you get additional discounts at tons of stores. With Ebates, get 11% back at Macy's, 6% back at Pfaltzgraff, 11% back at Ulta, with a ton more stores to choose from!  Best of all, these sites tell you about coupon codes and special offers.

Get in the habit of searching for coupon codes before buying. Websites like Retailmenot, Current Codes, and Coupon Cabin offer promo codes i.e. discounts like Free Shipping over $50 or $10 off any $100 purchase for many retailers, including Target, Kohl's, and many more!

Personalize the registry gifts for extra impact. Okay, so this might not work if everything on the bride's registry is $200 or up, but most couples have lower-priced items on theirs too. Take some lower priced items from the registry and personalize it with extras like gift cards. For example, buy just one set of the wine glasses and have them monogrammed to make them special or give a few bottles of wine along with the set.
