I've been a fan of scene-stealer Amanda Seyfried since Mean Girls and I'm really excited to see her performance in Mamma Mia. Chris and Jen

Chris and Jen got married this past November in Williamsburg (that's 2 down, I'm sure I have about 15 more weddings in Williamsburg to go!) in a beautiful fall-themed wedding.
Jen's mother made her dress! Now there's a budget-saver.The cake by our good friend Josh Carr was really spectacular - and he custom-made it as a gift to the bride and groom. It was every bit as delicious as it was beautiful.
All the gorgeous photos above are courtesy of Kim Hawthorn of Photos Unscripted. Below are some not-quite-as-spectacular shots I managed to snag when not enjoying myself as a guest.

I thought this was pretty cool - inside the church the pews were decorated with wheat (what do you call them - stalks?) and tied with chocolate-colored satin ribbons. It was an inexpensive way to really bring the fall theme together.

Another way not to break the bank, the tables had very creative centerpieces - hollowed out pumpkins the came from a friend's orchard, with floating candles.

I loved how the chandeliers at the Winery were decorated with vines. . .it really gave the room a romantic feel. The getaway car.

Vera Wang Spring 2011

good morning! it would seem as though Vera Wang has further mastered her tattered-chic look and has created a spring 2011 collection that is artfully dramatic. there were so many of her dresses that were amazing it was hard for me to choose "the one" for the top of the post. in Wang's program for the show, she described the brilliant cascades of silk gazar that seems to be rising upward from the gown above as the "ladder technique". it's so breathtaking and unbelievable i had to pick that one. but all of them are beautiful. she replaced the striking black accents of the last collection with gorgeous soft touches of color--the one shoulder, pale lilac gown below was definitely another stunner. i love this collection!! which one grabs your attention? are her designs too modern for you or are you a Vera lover too? :)

ABC Necklace

We have a very talented lady in our midst who handmade the attached ABC Necklace. I love it and I hope that you do also. If you are interested in purchasing one they can come a couple of different ways:

She’s added a light blue mystic quartz briolette to one, which the ABC logo is in light blue (but she also have these same briolette in a pink and a lemon color). The briolette can be worn with the pendant or without it, or even take the pendant off and have a second necklace with just the briolette. Or you could just wear the pendant without the chain also. Also, each pendant will look a tiny bit different because they are handmade.

It's the weirdest thing. I am a warm-weather person through and through. As August draws to a close I start to physically dread Autumn and Winter. My wardrobe is in denial for a while - seriously, I don't wear socks for the longest time. And then. . .something just clicks. The leaves change and fall, there's a chill in the air and the upcoming holidays just woo me. Poor James Statement :


I am an oddity I admit, a guy with a life long love of music, art and literature, living in the sticks in a little cabin (built with my own hands) with my girlfriend, her two horses, three dogs, three cats, plus the occassional stray who drops by for brunch, and yet... I am a right-wing conservative.

How can this be you ask? Quite simply, I have a built in, infallible bull-shit detector (gift from my dear ol' Dad.) I keep my feet planted firmly on the ground and observe what works for our country, and that is conservative ideals: hard work, personal responsibility, small government, fiscal restraint, honor, and duty to family and country. I also see what weakens our country: heavy taxation and redistribution, entitlements for non-producers, disdain for America and an increasingly flexible sense of right and wrong.

Granted, as a songwriter, I have many lib associates whose wacky socialist views I endure, but I'll be damned if I'll have them anywhere near government or policy making.

America did not exude from the ethereal herbal vapors of some drug inspired utopian manifesto, but was built purposefully upon solid ground by brilliant, brave, sober, God-fearing conservatives.

About this song Obama No Merci Beaucoup. You may recall a month or so ago Mr. Obama bemoaning the dearth of mulit-lingual Americans whom, when traveling abroad, could but manage to mutter a paltry "merci beaucoup" (thankyou very much.) Hence the song title Obama No Merci Beaucoup (Obama, no thankyou very much.)

If I were rich I would flood the media with independent anti-Obama ads. If I were a Hollywood actor I would defy those lame-brains and expose Mr. Obama's socialist nature before God and David Letterman. But alas, I am but a poor songwriter living in the sticks. We do what we can.

I think you will find Obama No Merci Beaucoup hard hitting but fair. There are no cheap-shots. The lyrics are based on actual statements he has made, actions he has taken, and his published agenda. Pass it on to your conservative friends to rally them and any libs you may know to throw them off their game a bit. Download it, burn copies if you like, learn it and sing it. If we succeed in securing Mr Obama's defeat in November, we'll dance to it.
